Interview with Ron McGillvray about his latest book Tales From The Parkland and his new upcoming film The Crepuscule.
My writing had progressed over the years and I spent a lot more time writing in 2005 and 2006. Those two years led me to a pretty banner year in 2007, where I had several pieces published and a couple of short films made from my stories. I also had an audio version of one of my stories produced. It was also the year I went to my first World Horror Convention where my short film “Storm” was premiering. Little did I know that “Storm” would be invited later to screen at the Shocklines Film Series in New York City. Along with my own film were films based on stories by Ed Gorman and an up-and-coming writer at the time named Jeff Hill, son of Stephen King, the man who was one of the catalysts for my own writing. It was definitely good karma, or so it seemed.

Veer is a Maryland-based alternative rock band whose roots are planted firmly in the soil of the mid-Atlantic music scene. Comprised of members from Kelly Bell Band, Nellie Blide, and Public Eye, VEER’s music owes its origin to the post-grunge, alternative rock movement of the mid- and late ’90s. Songs like “Come Clean,” “Power Drive,” and “Douse” have quickly come to signify their brand of original, hard-hitting, rhythm-driven alt-rock, layered with enigmatic lyrics. “Lyrically, the songs are about nothing and everything all at once,” says frontman Ronald Malfi.
I love writing, it has been in my blood since I was a child. It's a wonderful thing to read a book, to be transported to another world, and nothing gives me more pleasure than reading a new novel, or indeed, starting to write one! When I was eight, my Aunt bought me a copy of Dracula in a jumble sale. That summer, I read that book over and over again, and even now it is still my go to book for inspiration. It fuelled my imagination, and it became a doorway to so many possibilities. Writing is a wonderful thing, for it shows us new worlds and new characters, horror and love, sadness and joy. I love it. The new dark thriller novel by Eric Shapiro.Dennis Fordham has it all: the wife, the kids, the established small business. And yet...he's slipping. Something's changing in his mindset. He's regretting all the chances that he never took. And he's getting a bad itch to visit illicit massage parlors. Even worse: he’s also starting to talk kind of funny. Only it's not a joke— his strange words terrify his dental hygienist, who tells his whole Northern California community that he harassed her. When Dennis tries to push back, he's met with intense resistance. Which is when his troubling thoughts turn into violent ones...A story of red rage, red madness, and a bright red, all-American, hyper-masculine psycho, RED DENNIS gives us a man on the edge, then invites us to follow him down into the abyss."To me, Shapiro is the next Philip K. Dick. He's got the same intelligent voice, vivid characterization, and the absolutely crucial awareness of all that is wrong with humankind."--Kealan Patrick Burke, author of CURRENCY OF SOULS"I first read Eric Shapiro in 2005, when his novella IT'S ONLY TEMPORARY made me think, This guy is gooooooooood. Since then, I've read everything he's put out and he hasn't let me down yet. Nobody does 'WTF?!' better, but Eric's work is also smart, richly observed, and oh-so-human. Where great writing is concerned, Eric Shapiro is The Real Deal."—Bram Stoker Award-Winning Author Lisa Morton .

The latest book from the critically acclaimed author of Beautiful, Frightening, and Silent; Jennifer Anne Gordon.
On an almost uninhabitable rocky island off the coast of Maine, a Hotel looms over the shore, an ever-present gray lady that stands strong like a guard, keeping watch. For many who come here, this island is a sanctuary and a betrayal.
This is a place where memories linger like ghosts, and the ephemeral nature of time begins to peel away …like the sanity of all who have been unlucky enough to step foot on its shore.
In the late spring of 1873, Isabelle gave birth to her son Oscar, he cried for three startling minutes, and then went silent. During the months that follow, Isabelle is drugged and lulled into an almost hallucinatory world of grief and fear. Her life begins to feel as though it exists in a terrifying new reality separated from those around her …
When her grieving begins to make her husband, Henry, uncomfortable, he and his mother conspire to send Isabelle away to a Summer Hotel on Dagger Island, where she can rest and heal. While they are adamant that the hotel is not an asylum and that Isabelle will be able to return eventually to her home, Isabelle understands in her heart that it is all a lie. That perhaps, everything about being a woman in this time, may have always been a lie.
Her family has lied to her, and she has lied to herself.
The Hotel, of course, is not what it seems, and the foreboding Dagger Island begins to feel more like a prison than a retreat. Isabelle hears relentless sounds coming from the attic above her room, and the ever-present cries of small children scream in her head almost constantly. Are they hallucinations, or are they connected to the small cemetery she found, filled with the fresh dirt of little graves, the brokenhearted reminders of people that no one believes ever existed?
She meets a fellow guest at the Hotel, a young, enigmatic, and deeply damaged priest, named Francis.
Together they teeter on the edges of reality and try desperately to become free from the fates that their pasts have bound them to.
From Daylight to Madness is a poetic, and haunting Gothic Fiction novel that is both profoundly unsettling and darkly romantic.

Ever since he was a child, David was actively inspired by the Muses to write. Whether it was stories of the Smurfs when he was 7 or Star-Trek-meets-Greek-myth short story in his senior year in high school, he has always desired to share adventures. Becoming an English teacher simply fueled his desire to write, and from this, as well as a love of fantasy and comic books (especially Wonder Woman), he created his Task Force: Gaea series.
David's tale of mythic fantasy in the world of the Olympian gods, Task Force: Gaea, will be five books, plus one anthology, Of Mortal Bonds, that leaps out of Memory's Curse, to tell an additional set of stories.
He is also working on a Celtic myth-inspired series called The DragonHawk Cycle, with the first novel being The Quest of Wyndracer and Fyrehunter (2017 or 2018).
David goes to various conventions across the country to meet fans, sign books, and just be a total geek. For more information, please check his website: http://www.davidbergerbooks.com
